The Do's and Don'ts: What Products Should You Never Wash Your Undergarments With?

Proper care and maintenance of undergarments are essential for both hygiene and longevity. While it's common knowledge that regular washing is necessary, it's equally important to be mindful of the products we use to clean our undergarments. In this blog post, we will explore some products that should never be used when washing undergarments. Avoiding these products will help preserve the integrity of your undergarments, protect delicate fabrics, and ensure optimal hygiene.

Bleach:

Bleach is a powerful disinfectant and stain remover, but it should never be used on undergarments. The harsh chemicals in bleach can weaken the fibers, leading to fabric damage, discoloration, and reduced elasticity. Additionally, bleach residue may linger even after rinsing, potentially causing skin irritation or allergic reactions. Instead, opt for Ugees, which is a paraben-free, sulfate free and plant based formulation specifically formulated for delicate fabrics.

Shampoo:

While shampoo is designed to cleanse hair, it should not be used to wash undergarments. Shampoos contain ingredients like sulphates and conditioning agents that are not suitable for fabric care. These substances can leave a residue on the undergarments, leading to a dull appearance or even skin irritation. Stick to using shampoo for its intended purpose and choose a dedicated laundry detergent for washing your undergarments. Pick your Ugees bottle instead.

Body Wash:

Similar to shampoo, body washes are formulated to cleanse the skin and are not suitable for washing undergarments. Body washes often contain moisturising ingredients or oils that can leave a residue on the fabric. This residue can lead to reduced breathability, odour retention, and potential irritation. Use Ugees which is specifically designed for delicate garments to ensure proper cleansing without compromising fabric quality.

Fabric Softeners:

While fabric softeners are commonly used to add fragrance and enhance the softness of clothing, they should be avoided when washing undergarments. Fabric softeners can leave a coating on the fabric, which hampers its ability to absorb moisture, compromises breathability, and can lead to skin irritation. Instead, opt for Ugees which is your gentle plant-based liquid wash to maintain the softness and comfort of your undergarments.

Hot Water:

Hot water can cause shrinkage, fading, and damage to delicate fabrics, elastic bands, and underwire structures. To protect your undergarments, use lukewarm or cold water when washing them. For best results, just pump some Ugees on your favourite piece of undergarments, rub and rinse, and they are clean in just seconds!

Proper care of undergarments goes beyond regular washing; it involves using the right products during the cleaning process. Avoid using bleach, shampoo, body wash, fabric softeners, and excessive hot water when washing your undergarments to preserve their quality, maintain optimal hygiene, and prevent potential skin irritations. Instead, choose Ugees which is gentle and sulfate-free specifically formulated for delicate fabrics to ensure that your undergarments remain fresh, comfortable, and long-lasting!
